Top 4 Places to Visit in Singapore
Earlier in the year I was lucky enough to visited Singapore, it is one of the most beautiful places I have experienced. The architecture and sites are so stunning and unique, and is definitely a place I recommend going. I went for just over a week, staying in the Hotel JEN Orchard Gateway. This hotel was amazing with beautiful views of the city, also the staff were so lovely and were happy to help at anytime. We definitely crammed a lot in, in the 9 days we were there but it was all worth it.
MARINA BAY SANDS
Everyone has probably seen the Marina Bay without even knowing it, if your anything like me I knew it as the 'ironing board building'. I took a trip up the MBS and went to the CÉ LA VI bar for drinks with my family. The views were absolutely stunning and you can get the most beautiful landscapes photos from the top. Its £20 to go up but then you get a £20 token/voucher for a drink at the bar. While up there we experienced a crazy rain storm, we went from seeing miles to seeing nothing but white clouds. It was such an amazing experience and I would love to go again.
The 'Gardens by the Bay' is such a beautiful area of Singapore, you go from being in a busy city to going into a calm forest full of colourful flowers and intricate sculptures. It's a lovely walk to do but I wouldn't recommend doing it in the midday heat, it can get very hot and sweaty. In the centre there is a market/food stall type place to grab a bite to eat called 'Satay by the Bay'. The chicken and beef satay sticks were so lush I wanted to buy more. You are completely surrounded by nature and it is so calming.
RAFFLES
I was fortunate enough to have my birthday while in Singapore, we went out for afternoon tea at Raffles Hotel. The hotel is so grand with a beautiful tea room, there was such a range of food from a buffet (including dim sum) to a traditional afternoon tea stand with cakes and sandwiches. They have a live harpist playing beautiful music and she even played happy birthday for me. The hotel even brought out a cake for me and my family to share. All the waiters were very happy to get you anything you needed and were really lovely to. Definitely worth the visit.
CLOUD DOME
Oh my goodness, the cloud dome is the most breathtaking thing I have experienced. There is a stunning walk that takes you to the top of the dome and all the way back down, there was so many delicate flowers and plants presented beautifully. When you look closer into the plants you notice small statues giving the area more character and telling a story. As you walk in there is a massive waterfall which is just beautiful, the challenge is to get a photo without anyone in it due to the amounts of people wanting a photo in front of it. Definitely worth the task though! Every area is different with a mix of plants, waterfalls and statues telling a different story. We went as the day was turning into night so we saw all the colourful lights turn on and change the atmosphere of the dome, making it more dramatic and grand. This is a place I will recommend to anyone but be aware if you are extremely scared of heights it might not be for you.
